A new development of the spectral moments method is reported. It is ap
plied to the calculation of electromagnetic wave diffraction by dielec
tric devices of any shape. A first application is performed with a cir
cular cylinder and comparison with the analytical response highlights
the accuracy of the method. Another application is performed with a sq
uare cylinder of arbitrary orientation vs. the propagating direction.
It shows the powerful calculation potential of the method.
