Abstract
The problem of determining the neural current inside the brain from me asurements of the magnetic field outside the head is discussed. In par ticular the non-uniqueness question is completely resolved. Furthermor e, it is shown that with the assumption of energy minimization, the cu rrent can be reconstructed uniquely.
