Abstract
Modelling plays a central role in any process engineering project. Mec hanistic models are being used increasingly not only for simulation bu t also for design, operation and control related activities. The integ ration of these activities is highly desirable as it would not only bu ild a link between the various activity groups, but would also increas e the efficiency of project activities. The key to improving efficienc y is an increased use of common process information and effective exch ange of data, models and information between the applications.
