Abstract
The paper presents some extensions and improvements of an earlier gene ral formulation to deal with operational constraints and plants involv ing continuous operations. The concept of Unit Usability is introduced to give a unified formulation for a variety of operational constraint s. A modified task model for continuous operations enables us to linea rize cross-products of one integer variable and two continuous variabl es. These ideas are illustrated by application to a realistic case-stu dy.
