S. Diaz et al., A STUDY ON THE CAPITAL AND OPERATING ALTERNATIVES IN AN ETHANE EXTRACTION PLANT, Computers & chemical engineering, 20, 1996, pp. 1499-1504
A typical natural gas plant currently in operation is studied. In the
present work, a previous model has been extended to rigorously represe
nt the compression and separation areas. Optimal operating conditions
have been determined for varying feed flowrates. Different turboexpans
ion processes have also been analyzed through a MINLP strategy. The op
timization program is an implementation of the Outer Approximation alg
orithm that is interfaced to the simulation program. The structural an
d parameter optimization of the entire plant has been performed to det
ermine the optimal turboexpansion economic flowsheet.
