We describe the time evolution of the finite window field power spectr
um during the switch-on transient of a detuned laser. We derive an ana
lytical expression for a stochastic map that generates a time series o
f the held over time steps of the order of the fast time scale of evol
ution. The different effects of static initial intensity noise and pha
se noise along the evolution are disentangled.
