Abstract
The authors compute the capacity of bit-interleaved coded modulation ( BICM) in the case of ideal interleaving. They show that for most signa l sets with Gray labelling, this turns out to be almost equal to the c apacity of the signal sets themselves. This implies that BICM can achi eve the same coding gain as TCM.
