The copolycondensation of commercially available disilanols (PDMS), ha
ving various molecular weights, with a fluorinated grafted triethoxysi
lane and a vinyl grafted triethoxysilane led to the synthesis of a ser
ies of polysiloxanes. These polysiloxanes were thus bearing fluorinate
d grafts being linked to the silicone backbone through urethane groups
. The structure of the final products was determined by IR, C-13 and H
-1-NMR spectroscopies. The properties of these polymers at high and lo
w temperatures are compared to those of PDMS and poly(methyltrifluorop
ropyl)siloxane. These products exhibit very good release properties an
d better properties the longer the silicone chain. (C) 1996 Elsevier S
