Ja. Larkin et al., PRIMARY CUTANEOUS ASPERGILLOSIS - CASE-REPORT AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE, Infection control and hospital epidemiology, 17(6), 1996, pp. 365-366
Primary cutaneous aspergillosis is an uncommon entity that may occur i
n immunosuppressed hosts, usually resulting from contact with contamin
ated medical devices used in patient care. The infection spreads local
ly with subsequent skin necrosis due to angioinvasion and thrombosis.
We report primary cutaneous aspergillosis following contact with conta
minated gauze, and we review the relevant literature.
