Abstract
Asthma is now regarded as an inflammatory disease, and inhaled glucoco rticoids (iGCs) are recommended earlier in the course of treatment of patients with this disorder. Although iGCs are highly efficacious in t reating asthma, many questions about this treatment modality remain un answered. The purpose of this review is to define those areas where da ta are controversial or limited and where further research is needed r egarding this important mode of treatment.
