Abstract
In Part 1 of this paper, we presented the experimental evaluation of r oof timbers removed from Peirce Hall, a turn-of-the-century structure built on the campus of Purdue University. In this part of the paper, w e analytically evaluate duration-of-load (DOL) effects in the Peirce H all timbers. The analysis utilizes the five most common models for pre dicting DOL effects, all five being based on the concept of cumulated damage under sustained load. Part 1 of the paper reported that no DOL effects resulted in the Peirce Hall timbers. The objective of this pap er is to examine whether this observation could be predicted by curren t theory.
