Pv. Parikh et al., SKIN TRANSPLANTATION WITH HONEY PRESERVED PUNCH GRAFTS IN BUFFALO CALVES (BUBALUS-BUBALIS), Indian Journal of Animal Sciences, 66(6), 1996, pp. 570-572
Gross and histological examination of buffalo skin punch grafts preser
ved in honey at 4 degrees C and room temperature (28 degrees-30 degree
s C) for 2, 4, 8 and 12 weeks revealed normal viability and well maint
ained architecture. Autografting of honey preserved grafts revealed hi
gh acceptance (80 to 95%). Histomorphological examination of grafted s
kin at different intervals revealed leucocytic infiltration, fibroblas
tic and angioblastic activity leading to bridging of gap between the g
rafts by 20 days and complete healing by 60 days.
