BEST LINEAR UNBIASED ESTIMATES OF DIFFERENT ENVIRONMENTAL-EFFECTS FORPRODUCTION AND REPRODUCTION TRAITS IN SAHIWAL

Data on 1186 production and reproduction records of Sahiwal cows colle cted during 1951-73, were used to obtain best linear unbiased estimate s (BLUE) for different environmental effects. Model used for this purp ose contained season and period of calving, and parity as fixed effect s and sire as a random effect and age at first calving as a covariate. Effect of the sire and other environmental factors were significant f or most of the production and reproduction traits.
