Optical absorption, photoluminescence and thermoluminescence emission
studies are made on CsCl : Dy3+ crystals at room temperature. The glow
curve and optical absorption studies clearly show the participation o
f dysprosium ions in the thermoluminescence process. The new high temp
erature 458 K glow peak, which is not observed in pure CsCl is ascribe
d to the dysprosium impurity and gives the characteristic emissions of
the Dy3+ at 465, 560 nm due to transitions from the F-4(9/2) to the H
-6 levels and confirmed by photoluminescence also.
