In this paper the theory of the elastic wave resonance reflection from
a thin solid layer inserted into a crystal is developed for the angle
s of incidence corresponding to the excitation of the leaky wave, whic
h arises from the bulk wave propagating in the crystal with group velo
city parallel to the layer. It is shown that within some narrow interv
al of angles of incidence the coefficients of transformation undergo s
trong and abrupt changes in their magnitudes and phases. For example,
it may occur that under resonance conditions the incident wave will re
flect almost totally from the layer, whereas outside the resonance reg
ion of angles of incidence it transmits almost totally through the lay
er.
