Abstract
Damage to nuclear DNA resulting from the incubation of isolated rat li ver nuclei in the presence of NADPH or NADH and ethylenediaminetetraac etic acid or diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid or deferoxamine Fe2+ c omplexes was studied. Damage to DNA was analyzed by agarose electropho resis. The observed DNA damage was prevented by catalase but not super oxide dismutase. The mechanism of oxidizing damage to nuclear DNA duri ng the functioning of the membrane redox chain is discussed.
