Tv. Rao et al., NONLINEAR MAGNETIC RESPONSE OF THE HIGHLY CORRELATED ANDERSON LATTICE, Physica status solidi. b, Basic research, 177(2), 1993, pp. 493-500
The periodic Anderson model (PAM) has, apart from other features. inte
resting magnetic properties. Depending on the model parameter values,
it has both ferromagnetic and paramagnetic ground states. Earlier calc
ulations where the localized electrons were assumed to be weakly corre
lated have shown that in the neighbourhood of a phase boundary, the sy
stem has characteristics similar to a spin glass. In the present paper
, the PAM is treated in the infinite correlation limit and the magneti
c properties are studied in the neighbourhood of the phase boundary. I
n particular the quantities that characterize nonlinearity, viz., the
field dependent magnetization, the second-order susceptibility, and th
e nonlinear response have been studied. It is found that in the presen
t approximation the nonlinearity is reduced as compared with the weak
correlation limit. However, the scaling relations which were examined
earlier continue to be satisfied.
