THE SUITABILITY OF A LOCAL AGGREGATE, BAMA GRAVEL, FOR CONCRETE PRODUCTION

The paper reports results of tests carried out to assess the desirabil ity of an abundant local aggregate in Borno State-Bama Gravel-for conc rete production. While some physical characteristics of the aggregate are recognised as having the potential to undermine its suitability as a coarse aggregate,performance test results show that the gravel can be used to produce structural concrete. In the experimental work, the gravel is used as the main factor with crushing strength and measures of workability as the criterion variables.
