P. Engelhardt et R. Morant, RESECTION OF EWINGS-SARCOMA IN THE DISTAL TIBIA - ARTHRODESIS OF THE ANKLE JOINT AFTER SEGMENTAL BONE TRANSPORT (ILIZAROV), Der Orthopade, 22(3), 1993, pp. 186-188
The technique of segmental transport of the tibia according to Ilizaro
v is a well-known procedure in pediatric orthopedics, but in the treat
ment of bone tumors it has not yet been established. The method is als
o applicable for filling a large gap after tumor resection in the dist
al tibia. A case history is presented in which Ewing's sarcoma localiz
ed in the distal tibia was removed surgically after multiagent chemoth
erapy. The ankle joint was successfully fused after bone transport of
the tibia 5 cm distal to the talus.
