Vn. Eremeev et al., MODELING OF LONG BAROTROPIC WAVES IN THE BLACK-SEA GENERATED BY MOVING PRESSURE DISTURBANCES, Okeanologia, 36(2), 1996, pp. 218-225
Long wave processes in the Black Sea generated by pressure disturbance
s with south cyclone parameters are investigated using a finite-differ
ence model. Nonstationary disturbances of the atmospheric pressure, wi
th corresponding wind stress fields, are considered as model cyclones,
It has been found that maximum sea level deviations induced by the cy
clones take place in the northwestern part of the sea. It is shown tha
t the propagation of south cyclones may be responsible for the occurre
nce of one-node Black Sea seiche with 12.8h period. The results of sim
ulating of the long wave response to the propagation of the cyclone on
November 9 - 10 1981 are compared with the observed sea level data in
the northwestern part of the basin.
