METHODOLOGY FOR REAL-TIME SYSTEMS

A definition is given for the term methodology, then a framework metho dology for the development of real time systems using the SDL and othe r related languages (ASN.1 and MSC) is outlined. The use of languages and activities in the engineering process is described. A framework me thodology using five activities (documentation, analysis, draft design , formalisation and implementation) is outlined. A structure for defin ing activities is described, and the five activities are introduced. S ome examples are given of the definition of activities and references are given for detailed definitions. The conclusion gives some reflecti ons on the limitations of existing work.
