Abstract
Three new series of phthalizinone derivatives have been prepared from 4-hydroxy-2-phenylphthalazin-1(2H)-one (1). The biological activity of these compounds have been tested against gram positive and gram negat ive bacteria, yeast and fungi using diffusion method. The minimum inhi bitory concentration (MIC) have been determined for biologically activ e compounds. From the static dielectric constant measurements, the dip ole moment has been calculated and its relation with the biological ac tivity has been determined which give a contravariant correlation.
