Abstract
Chloro-4-formyl-3-substitued-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazoles (1a-c) and 1, 3-dia ryl-6-chloro-5-formyl-1, 3-dihydro-4-oxo-2-thioxopyrimidines (2a-f) on condensation with methyl thioglycolate furnish the corresponding meth yl l-1-phenyl-1H-thieno[2,3-c]pyrazole-5-carboxylates (4a-c) and methy l 1,3-diaryl-1, 3-dihydro-4-oxo-2-thioxothieno[2, 3-d]pyrimidine-6-car boxylates (5a-f) in excellent yields.
