Abstract
Claisen condensation of 3,4-tetrahydro-6-hydroxy-4-oxo-2-thioxopyrimid ines (1a-f) has been carried out using diethylcarbonate, as one carbon synthon, in the presence of pulverised sodium to yield ethyl 2-thioxo -7H-pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidine-6-carboxylates (2a-f). All the compounds h ave been screened for their antibacterial, antimycobacterial and antif ungal activities.
