Rc. Canby et al., SELECTIVE RADIOFREQUENCY ABLATION OF THE SLOW ATRIOVENTRICULAR NODAL PATHWAY FOR CONTROL OF THE VENTRICULAR RESPONSE TO ATRIAL-FIBRILLATION, The American journal of cardiology, 77(15), 1996, pp. 1358
Modification of the atrioventricular (AV) node with radiofrequency cat
heter ablation of the posterior septum (''slow pathway'') was compared
in patients with chronic atrial fibrillation and AV nodal reentrant t
achycardia. Whereas extensive radiofrequency modification reduced the
ventricular response to atrial fibrillation in some patients, a limite
d slow pathway ablation sufficient to eliminate AV nodal reentrant tac
hycardia had less effect on ventricular response to atrial fibrillatio
n.
