We investigate the phase-locking and the combination of the two output
beams produced by a Nd:YAG laser, longitudinally pumped by two indepe
ndent pig-tailed laser diodes. The phase locking is due to a diffracti
ve component located inside a special afocal resonator. The transforma
tion of the two phase-locked beams to a single gaussien wave is perfor
med by a birefringent interferometer. 610 mW has been obtained in a si
ngle lobe beam profile with 30% conversion efficiency in cw.
