Passive mode locking of a cw diode pumped Nd:YAG laser with the nonlin
ear mirror technique is reported. Light pulses with 320 mW of average
power and pulse duration shorter than 10 ps at 1064 nm have been obtai
ned. The nonlinear mirror consists of a 3mm long KTP frequency doublin
g crystal and a dichroic mirror with high reflectivity for the second
harmonic and lower reflectivity for the fundamental frequency. We show
that the pulses duration is directly dependent of the intracavity pow
er and of the length of the non linear cristal.
