Abstract
We report on time-resolved measurement of the phase deformation encoun tered by an optical wavefront after propagation through a Kerr lens. I t allows a linear detection of the nonlinearity, with lambda/10(4) sen sitivity. Spherical aberration ratio is chosen as a unique criterium f or the geometrical and energetical parameter evaluation. It is well su ited in this context as the Kerr lens effect detection is based on the beam diffraction by a phase mask.
