Abstract
The dependence of the eigenstates of a high-finesse Fabry-Perot is sho wn to provide a very sensitive method to characterize residual anisotr opies of supemirrors at normal incidence and to measure weak intracavi ty anisotropies. It leads to a sensitivity of. 10(-10) rad for phase r etardance detection. A precise method for large finesse measurements i s also demonstrated.
