A. Lecalvez et al., FEMTOSECOND AND PICOSECOND ANALYSIS OF TH E ROTATION OF LIQUID-CRYSTAL MOLECULES IN THE SMECTIC-A PHASE AROUND THEIR LONG AXIS, Annales de physique, 20(5-6), 1995, pp. 613-614
A pump probe femtosecond optical Kerr effect experiment in smectic A p
hases of liquid crystals (LC) was performed to select and study the ro
tation of the LC molecules around their long axis. A temporal analysis
of the signal allowed us to distinguish individual motions from colle
ctive motions and to assign some contributions to some particular mole
cular groups.
