Abstract
Experimental results on the temperature dependence up to above 1000 K of the Xe-2 VUV exciter emission lineshape around 172 nm is reported. The excitation is obtained in the center of a heated silica cell usin g two-photon Xe 6p state laser excitation. A very large effect is obse rved and compared to calculations using ab initio potential. Only qual itative agreement on the linesshapes is obtained. Further work is in p rogress.
