Abstract
The basic assumptions of the diffuse interface theory of nucleation (b ulk physical properties at the center of nuclei and size-independent i nterface thickness) are discussed in the light of field-theoretical ca lculations and light/X-ray reflectivity measurements. It is concluded that, contrary to recent suggestions, the basic assumptions of the dif fuse interface theory are reasonable.
