Digitized field emission signals from CO oxidation on Pt(100) and Pt(2
10) are presented. The Pt(100) cycles oscillate in phase with those fr
om Pt(210) to within the time resolution of 40 ms. Implications of suc
h synchronicity are addressed. The cycles of both Pt(100) and Pt(210)
display a double peak structure. A model will be proposed which involv
es subsequent adsorption of CO and oxygen for both planes, The oscilla
tions are attributed to the different sticking coefficients of oxygen
on Pt(100) and Pt(210).
