Coupled LC-GC is a very powerful two-dimensional system and has potent
ial for substantial time saving in sample preparation and sample clean
-up; is far more efficient than conventional sample preparation method
s. The main advantages of this coupled method are simplification of sa
mple preparation by minimizing the pre-separation, efficient eliminati
on of interfering components, better repeatability, and improvement of
quantitation. Moreover it is possible to automate completely the enti
re system. This review categorizes LC-GC publications in food and wate
