The correlation of the magnetostriction and magnetic anisotropy with t
he soft magnetic performances of amorphous and nanocrystalline Fe73Cu1
Nb1.5Mo2Si12.5B10 was studied through Mossbauer measurements. When a s
ample was exposed to a radio frequency (r.f.) field, the Mossbauer spe
ctrum would demonstrate two r.f. effects: side band effect and collaps
e effect. The above two properties can be judged from the r.f. effects
. When the crystallinity of an annealed sample is about 60% and the av
erage diameter of crystalline grain is in the range of 10-20 nm, the s
oft magnetic performances of the nanocrystalline material are optimum,
the magnetostriction coefficient descends to zero and magnetic anisot
ropy comes to a minimum simultaneously. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Sc
