Raman band shapes of the v(3) vibration in methyl bromide have been st
udied in the temperature range 183 K to 333 K. The isotropic and aniso
tropic part of the band were determined and then used to calculate spe
ctral density of the rotational contribution. The integrated spectral
density of the rotational contribution has been found to satisfy the s
econd moment criterion. Both rotational correlation function and angul
ar velocity correlation function have been determined and analysed.
