We describe a young woman who developed left ventricular failure and p
ulmonary edema during fulminant onset of multiple sclerosis. One of th
e numerous plaques was located in the the left inferior cerebellar ped
uncle near the dorsal motor vagal and solitary tract nuclei. Within tw
o days pulmonary edema had cleared, and within three days left ventric
ular function was normal. To our knowledge, left ventricular failure h
as not earlier been verified in acute multiple sclerosis.
