Do. Chikwendu et al., ADOPTION OF MINISETT TECHNIQUE OF SEED YAMS PRODUCTION BY FARMERS IN THE EASTERN FOREST ZONE OF NIGERIA, Discovery and innovation, 7(4), 1995, pp. 367-375
Yam minisett technique was appraised among farmers in the Eastern Fore
st zone in Nigeria. Farmers were interviewed using structured question
naires. The findings showed that while 78.8% of the farmers were aware
of the technique, only 48.8% actually practiced it. Age, household si
ze, cooperative membership, tenural status and the intensity of extens
ion contact were the significant determinants of the adoption of the t
echnique. Among the constraints to adoption of the technique were scar
city of complimentary inputs, lack of funds and the tedious and techni
cal nature of the procedures involved in the technique.
