Haemonchosis caused by Haemonchus contortus (Nematoda: T r i c h o s t
r o n g y l i d a e) is one of the major health hazards, affecting th
e sheep/goat industry. Early diagnosis, followed by treatment is essen
tial to control this disease. Hence, in the present studies, an attemp
t has been made to develop Dot-ELTSA for the detection of H. contortus
soluble antigen. The test involves competition between the free antig
en and solid phase bound antigen for anti-H. contortus antibodies. The
test was able to detect as low as 10 pg of the soluble antigen. Poten
tial applications of the test after testing in clinical samples are di
scussed.
