Abstract
A new ''incipient-wetness'' method is proposed for the synthesis of ch emically stabilized beta-cristobalite (CSC) that avoids the need to ha ndle liquid phases as required by the set-gel routes proposed in the l iterature, Stoichiometric compounds with the composition Si1-xAlxCax/2 O2 have been investigated, x = 0.07 represents the optimal composition for obtaining an extremely well-crystallized material consisting of a single beta-cristobalite phase, XRD, FTIR, DSC, and differential dila tometry have been used for the physicochemical characterization of the samples.
