Abstract
Consider a multipath signal whose individual signals are deterministic known pulses. Our problem is to estimate the amplitudes and delay tim es of individual signals. Several methods have been devoted to solutio n of these unknown parameters. The maximum-likelihood estimation and t he Estimate Maximize algorithm are commonly used, but they are computa tionally intensive. We consider the multipath signal as a changing lin ear model and use a change-point technique to obtain a quick and accur ate estimate of the amplitudes and arrival (delay) times. We detect th e pulse in a multipath signal which first arrives, and then finish one by one in a sequence until no pulse appears. Therefore, by using the change-point procedure, the number of individual pulses need not be kn own. The results of a Monte Carlo simulation study with trapezoidal an d sinusoidal pulses are presented to demonstrate a quick and accurate estimate of arrival times and amplitudes.
