Abstract
Microfluorometric imaging of second messengers has revealed a variety of subcellular signals and has contributed to our understanding of phy siological as well as pathophysiological processes. An overview of ima ging techniques and their perspectives in detecting second messenger s ignals as well as several examples of achievements with these techniqu es are presented.
