Abstract
The formation of charge transfer complexes between triethylamine, trib utylamine, trioctylamine and the pi-acceptors, chloranil and bromanil in 1,2-dichloroethane has been investigated spectrophotometrically. Th e formation constants of the resulting 1:1 molecular complexes are det ermined and the rate of formation constants of monosubstituted product s estimated. The stabilities of the complexes of both pi-acceptors var y in the order triethylamine > tributylamine > trioctylamine.
