Abstract
Fission fragment angular distributions have been measured for fission following full momentum transfer in B-11, C-12, O-16, and F-19 + Th-23 2 systems from above barrier to below sub-barrier energies. The fragme nt anisotropies [W(0 degrees)/W(90 degrees)] are found to exhibit an a nomalous peaklike structure below the fusion barrier in all the system s. This structure has a universal behavior independent of the entrance channel mass asymmetry. With some refinement in the quasifission hypo thesis it is possible to explain qualitatively the experimental result s reasonably well.
