Abstract
Unsaturated side chains have been introduced in benzopyran site of par ent indolinospiropyran moiety using Wittig reaction under conditions o f Phase Transfer Catalysis in a one pot synthesis. The resultant unsat urated photochromic indolinospirobenzopyrans show significant bathochr omic shift in the uv region of absorption spectra. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
