Abstract
The dynamical mass of a vortex in a two-dimensional easy-plane magneti c model is calculated from the translational mode spectrum and an effe ctive force constant for the vortex in a finite lattice system. A sign ificant feature of this method is that the mass can be calculated for both in-plane and out-of-plane vortices.
