Abstract
1. Whole-blood lactate levels were measured at different rates of haem ofiltration in 10 patients with acute renal failure undergoing convent ional continuous haemofiltration using lactate-buffered replacement fl uid, 2. The results enable both basal production rates and the metabol ic clearance of lactate to be estimated in man.
