REMOVAL AND FIXATION OF ARSENIC IN THE FORM OF FERRIC ARSENATES - 3 PARALLEL EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES

Arsenic is a by-product of many metallurgical operations and its contr ibution to environmental pollution is of major concern, Various techni ques for removing arsenic from plant liquors and effluents have been s uggested in the literature. This paper summarises results on the remov al of arsenic as ferric arsenate which were obtained in three independ ent laboratories (National Technical University of Athens, Greece, the Technical University of Kosice, Slovakia and the University of Chemic al Technology, Burgas, Bulgaria). Aspects of the molar ratio Fe/As, pH , temperature, initial concentration of arsenic, reagent addition sequ ence and the stability of ferric arsenate precipitates are dealt with in this paper.
