Two Japanese women with a solitary gastric varix were successfully and
easily treated by obliterating the gastro-renal shunt with a balloon
catheter in a transjugular venous approach without any major complicat
ions. The transjugular obliteration was thus found to be a bloodless a
nd useful method for the treatment of a solitary gastric varix with a
gastro-renal shunt.
