M. Niemeyer et al., REACTIVITY OF ORGANOGALLIUM-AMINE ADDUCTS AND GALLIUM AMIDES TOWARD SOME NONHYDROLYTIC GEL PRECURSOR MIXTURES, Chemistry of materials, 8(12), 1996, pp. 2745-2750
The synthesis and spectroscopic and structural characterization of som
e new amine-gallane adducts as well as gallium amides are described. T
his work was carried out in order to test their reactivity as gallium
nitride precursors toward nonhydrolytic gel precursor mixtures, These
mixtures usually consist of M(OR)(n)/M'Cl-n (M or M' = B, Al, Si, or T
i) species combined in various proportions. It was found that the addu
ct Me(3)GaNH(i-Pr)(2) reacts with SiCl4 to form compounds with gallium
-chlorine bonds and up to three chlorines may be substituted at galliu
m. The gallium amide (Me(2)GaNPh(2))(2) also reacts with SiCl4 to give
a chlorinated species. The only amide precursor species that proved i
nert to SiCl4 was the sterically encumbered derivative Ga{N(SiMe(3))(2
)}(3) which could be isolated unchanged after several days reaction ti
me. In addition, the compound {TiCl(3)OEt}(n), was isolated from a Ti(
OEt)(4)/SiCl4 reaction system and structurally characterized.
